The Mental Fight Club Launch |
The Mental Fight Club was launched on 23rd April 2005. Sarah Wheeler helped to organise the opening event, which featured a reading from Ben Okri's epic "Mental Fight".
Mental Fight Club (MFC) emerged initially as a private association of over 200 individuals who, in 2003/04, met to read all eight sections of the Okri epic in small venues in and around Borough High Street. MFC also owes its existence to the inspiration to be found in the art and poetry of William Blake, the film 'Fight Club' and the music of Nick Cave, amongst many other things.
