To provide new opportunities for young people and residents to access training, ranging from short introductory workshops to accredited training. Providing progression routes into mainstream education, vocational training and thereby enhancing employability. · To provide young people and residents with unique Life Long Learning opportunities to enjoy high quality ICT, Creative activities, ranging from participatory workshops, training, dance, drama, digital media, music, The Virtual School and much more. · To bring together disparate communities, develop self-confidence and life skills, breakdown barriers to participation and ensure that young people play an active and creative role in the process. KEY ACHIEVEMENTS Training · Training programmes established as a step on the way to more formal education, or work, e.g. Numeracy and Literacy, Business Development, Black History, Studio Time, Self Development, Music Introduction, Music Technology, Video Production, high quality training provided by experienced tutors, workshop leaders, artists and cultural enterprises. · Over 2000 individual have participated with Spirit Arts since it beginning E2E Programme 68% progressing to work and further education, also business start up. Employment We offer work experience on a temporary, part time and casual positions to local people, working in partnership with Pecan in Southwark. YOT Young people have been able to do their reparation orders with Spirit Arts. Activities · Arts festival in 2003, covering a range of creative activities provided by local people and high profile professionals with BBC Live. · Development of enthusiastic, mostly freelance staff team · Exceeding all output targets · Partnerships built with local and regionally based organisations including Freestyle, InSpire, YOT, Connexions, LSC, London Borough of Lambeth, London Borough of Southwark, Southwark Guarantee. · Conference for Black Head Teachers and Teachers. Development · Spirit Arts will be developing a Virtual School to take the project into its next phase. · Involvement of young, often excluded young people in Spirit Arts creative arts and training programmes, away from meaningless activities, boredom and towards outcomes in which they can take pride and gain satisfaction. · Involving of young people in training and work to gain skills, confidence, involvement with others including PAYP, pathways to Further and Higher Education and further vocational training. · Promote a culture of lifelong learning. · Next Step a IAG Centre – Advice on Learning and Work. · Flexible Learning Working with local schools | ||||||||||||||||||||
