The Tuesday and Thursday night youth club is generic youth club for all young people who are between 11 and 19. The standard activities include Pool, Table Tennis, Computers and IT, cooking and football in the gym. We also have decks, a PS2 and a bunch of other sports equipment. At the moment, Elizabeth, one of the youth workers, is running a programme of singing workshops for the young people and they are proving to be very popular. As much as anything, the club is a safe place for young people to relax and meet their friends. There is a team of youth workers who care a lot and are always available for support and can simply lend an ear or provide information and other kinds of help if need be. Sometimes we take things a little more seriously. In the past, we have had workshops around sexual health and drugs and Linton (another worker) is currently developing a careers and job seeking workshop with the help of the connexions service. That will take place in July.
NEW FOR TUESDAY AFTERNOONS YOUR STORY, FRIENDS OF GUY ST. PARK and Charterhouse are running a series of coaching programmes in football, hockey and badminton from 4.30 at Guy St. PArk.
