YANGON YMCA SUPPORT GROUP (UK) ‘making links with Yangon YMCA’

The Yangon YMCA Support Group (UK) was started in Watford, England in June 2003. The YMCA is also a partner of the Southwark TV Community Media Project who have produced a video (2004) about YMCA activities in Yangon. Under the umbrella of the YMCA movement, the aims of the Support Group are • to encourage YMCAs to gain an understanding of how the YMCA movement, as a Christian-based organisation, functions in Myanmar • to raise awareness amongst YMCAs in the UK of the work being carried out by Yangon YMCA • in co-operation with Yangon YMCA, to identify ways in which UK YMCAs can generate support for agreed educational, health and welfare projects being run or planned by Yangon YMCA for disadvantaged and other people • to assist (including financially) with the promotion of such projects through UK YMCAs and those individuals and organisations sympathetic with these aims.
